What is REC All About?
We are a non-profit
organization that is dedicated to making a ten mile paved bike path from
Danbury to New Milford and a recreation center with more playing fields,
hiking fields, walking trails and possibly a aquatic facility a reality.
The purpose of our organization is exactly what our name implies; to work
for the enhancement of recreational opportunities in Brookfield. Our group
consists of hard working volunteers, none of whom receive any compensation.
Working with already established organizations throughout town, we already
have been pursuing some of the above since January 2001.
What exactly do we
do? We are lobbyists and fund raisers. We research grant opportunities,
prepare business plans, commission engineering studies, and publicize
our plans and goals to the citizens of Brookfield.
But in order to accomplish
the above we need your help. Our activities require funding for the approved
bike path, survey fees for the recreational needs in the community, and
hopefully in the near future construction of a town recreation/teen/aquatic
center.
If you are interested
in getting involved in any way, your help will be greatly appreciated.
Some of our fundraising ideas include a Battle of the Bands, a Carnival,
raffles, an auction, a baseball clinic and others. Any ideas or help would
be greatly appreciated. If you can not make the meetings, but would like
to help in any way, including making copies, distributing flyers, help
with selling raffle tickets or tickets to our events, please contact us.
If you can not help
in any of the above ways, but would like to help financially, you can
mail your tax deductible donation to the Recreation Enhancement Council,
P.O. Box 5050, Brookfield CT 06804.
